DAY 01 - COLOMBO CITY You are met with traditional Sri Lankan hospitality at the airport, and then transported in your own private air-conditioned vehicle by our courteous English speaking Chauffeur-guide to Colombo City, where you will check-in to your luxury hotel in the heart of the city, and also next to the waterfront. This is the ideal place to stay in Colombo city, as everything is very conveniently nearby! After freshening up, you may attend a brief "familiarization meeting" where you can learn some basic interesting information about Sri Lanka, and discuss your upcoming tour itinerary, and even "fine-tune" it a bit, to meet your personal needs and requirements! In the early evening, you will be taken on a City Tour of Colombo City which includes important residential and commercial districts, shopping centres, museums, parks, pubs, clubs, and even casinos, and also various Buddhist and Hindu Temples where elaborate and beautiful carvings add to the mystical ambience of being in this exotic land. Overnight at COLOMBO CITY DAY 02 - PINNAWELA ELEPHANTS / DAMBULLA CAVE TEMPLE / HABARANA SAFARI After breakfast, you will visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, where baby elephants are cared for by man. Then, on to Dambulla, home of the famous Dambulla Rock Cave Temple, with it's marvellous Buddhist statues and frescoes dating back to our ancient times, all inside of an amazing cave! The, you will check in to your luxury hotel at Sigiriya, just in front of the amazing Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a massive rock rising out of the otherwise flat plains, on top of which is a very ancient fortress/palace/temple, accessible only through the paws of a massive lion figure, and decorated with ancient "dancing maidens" all the way up. After freshening up, you will enjoy a really thrilling Elephant Safari at Habarana! Overnight at SIGIRIYA ANCIENT SIGHTS DAY 03 - SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS / POLONNARUWA ANCIENT SITES / GIRITALE SCENIC VIEWS In the morning, you may attempt a climb to the top of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, and then you will visit the awe-inspiring ancient sites at Polonnaruwa, the most recently discovered ancient city in Sri Lanka, where you can explore well preserved statues and observe the life and surroundings in Sri Lanka's very ancient times. Later, a visit to Giritale to view one of Sri Lanka's largest man-made lakes, surrounded by scenic mountains, and built for irrigation purposes in ancient times by damming up the valley with rock and earth. It is truly breath-taking here! Overnight at SIGIRIYA ANCIENT SIGHTS DAY 04 - MATALE SPICE GARDENS / KANDY HILL COUNTRY After breakfast, you will enjoy a scenic drive to Kandy, the centre of traditional Sri Lankan culture, and home to the Kings of old. On the way stop in Matale to see a Hindu Temple, the 8th century Nalanda Gedige, a curious hybrid of buddhist & hindu architecture, a Spice Garden, Batik Factory, Gem Shop & Museum & also a Wood Carving Factory. After checking in to your beautiful hotel overlooking the scenic city and lake of Kandy, you will visit the beautiful Dalada Maligawa, "the Temple Of The Sacred Tooth Relic Of Lord Buddha", following which, you will enjoy a thrilling Cultural Dance Program. Overnight at KANDY HILL STATION DAY 05 - KANDY CULTURAL SITES Today you will experience a refreshing nature walk at the Uda Watta Kale & afterwards you will enjoy a City Tour of Kandy, during which you will also visit the Embekka Wood Carving Temple & Gadaladeniya Stone Carving Temples, Upper Lake, Bahirawa Kanda Buddha Statue, etc. Then, after lunch, you will visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Perideniya, where you can leisurely enjoy the beautiful and very exotic flowers and various unique plants. Your evening is free to stroll around this quaint little town in the hills, and explore authentic Sri Lankan life as it is today. Overnight at KANDY HILL STATION DAY 06 - NEGOMBO BEACH Today, at a time of your choosing, a leisurely very scenic drive down the hills, viewing endless tea plantations, and majestic waterfalls, will bring you to the beautiful beach resort area of Negombo, which is a favourite spot for Dutch and other European Tourists visiting Sri Lanka. Negombo beach is ideally located for a short beach stay, with golden sands, lots of restaurants , and is generally a very nice place to spend a short beach holiday! In the early evening, you may enjoy an interesting Tour of the Negombo area, which will include the Fishing Harbour, Market, a Catholic Church, and Dutch Canal, amongst other interesting sights. Overnight at NEGOMBO BEACH DAY 07 - NEGOMBO BEACH Free day to either relax on the golden sandy beach, swim in the wonderful pool at your luxury hotel, perhaps try out some watersports, or you could take a walk along the "promenade" a row of shops, hotels, restaurants, bars and even clubs all lined up along the long strip of beach! Overnight at NEGOMBO BEACH DAY 08 - LAST DAY / AIRPORT This is a day to relax and to do some last minute souvenir shopping, and to say goodbye to beautiful & exotic Sri Lanka, and it's wonderful people, scenery, and mystical ambience, because today you will be transferred to the airport in time to board your flight home.
